May News
Dear Friends of Earth & Soul,
The greatest influence in the writings and teachings of my life is the little known 19th century Scottish thinker Alexander John Scott. As a young minister of the Church of Scotland he was charged with heresy and banned from every pulpit in the land for teaching the sacredness of Earth and every human being. The Church has never rescinded its judgment against him even though the very future of humanity is in doubt if we persist in ignoring the wisdom of such vision.
On the 27th of May, 195 years to the day since Scott’s heresy trial, I am going to honour this forgotten prophet in a Scottish church and call us to recommit ourselves to Earth and every human being as sacred.
We will be livestreaming the event so I invite you to join us. In addition to my talk there will be music by my son Cameron Newell and his partner Siannie Moodie on the fiddle and clàrsach (the Scottish harp). And to specially mark the occasion Siannie will launch her new recording Wax and Wane.
The livestream registration is offered by donation and details are here. We hope you will join us.
Blessings to you,
John Philip Newell
