Reimagining Earth & Soul — an in-person and livestream talk

  • St Laurence, Forres, Scotland (and livestreatm) 129 High Street Forres, Scotland, IV36 1DX United Kingdom (map)

John Philip Newell tells the story of Alexander John Scott, a young Scottish minister convicted of heresy for teaching the sacredness of Earth and every human being. The judgment against him has never been rescinded.

Exactly 195 years to the day (27 May 2026) we will celebrate this forgotten prophet. He is the most seminal influence on the Celtic writings of John Philip Newell and offers us vision for today.

In addition to the talk, there will be clàrsach and fiddle music by Siannie Moodie and Cameron Newell and the launch of Siannie’s new recording, Wax & Wane.

Wax & Wane and John Philip’s book Sacred Earth Sacred Soul will be available for sale.

Tickets for this livestream event are offered for a donation amount of your choosing. All donations will go toward the cost of the event and to support the work of St Laurence and Earth & Soul.

The in-person event takes place at 7:00pm, BST, (2:00pm EDT, 1:00pm CDT, 12:00pm MDT, 11:00am PDT)

About Siannie Moodie and Cameron Newell

Komorebi are an exciting new duo from Edinburgh Scotland, featuring Siannie Moodie on clàrsach Cameron Newell on fiddle. Their music blends clarsach and fiddle to create an enchanting soundscape; one that plays with tones of light and shade. Their band name ‘Komorebi’, is the Japanese word for light dappling through leaves, which is an image they aspire to evoke through their music. Their repertoire includes fresh interpretations of traditional Scottish and Irish music as well as some of their own compositions.
