Tending the Mother Fire

In the Western Isles of Scotland there was the ancient Celtic practice of keeping the hearth fire burning continuously in the family home, both day and night. This was a symbol of feeding the fire of the soul or, as the Gospel of John calls it, ‘the light that enlightens every person coming into the world’. How do we feed that light of the divine that is deep within us, especially in challenging times of darkness and struggle in our lives and nations?

In this six-day retreat John Philip will draw from some of his favourite prophetic figures of the past, from the Celtic world and beyond, to speak wisdom for today so that we may tend the fire of our souls for courage and compassion. And Cami will lead us into spiritual practices that nurture the light and the love that are deep within us for one another and the world.
