Hebridean Treasure: Lost and Found, a film version of the live-stage dance, music, song production by John Philip Newell,has now toured Scotland twice and been performed in the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival and the Universal Hall here in Findhorn. We are taking it to India in December 2026 to perform in Auroville and are planning at the same time to film a more creative and professional version so that we can offer it to a wider audience, hopefully through the BBC in Britain or Public Television in the United States. It carries a message that is vital for this moment in time.

A screening of Hebridean Treasure: Lost & Found will be available online the weekend of 11-13 September 2026, on a donation basis. It portrays the spirituality of the men and women of the Western Isles of Scotland who for centuries celebrated the divine in the rising of the sun and its setting, in the waxing and waning of the moon at night, and in the ebbing and flowing of the tides. It was a spirituality of intimacy with nature rather than alienation from the natural world and its rhythms and seasons. The film also conveys the tragedy of the Highland Clearances in Scotland when tens of thousands of Scots were cleared off their ancestral lands by the politically and religiously powerful of the nation, a Scottish version of what has happened again and again to indigenous peoples throughout the world with the subsequent loss of native wisdom. But Hebridean Treasure also celebrates that this ancient wisdom is rising again in our Earth consciousness of today and in our growing recognition of the sacredness of nature and the native. It is a vision filled with hope for the way forward in our lives individually and together.
